Nominations open for Queen's Nurse Development Programme 2025

The Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland is now seeking nominations for The Queen’s Nurse Development Programme 2025.

The Queen’s Nurse title is awarded each year to 20 nursing and midwifery pioneers who complete this flagship nine-month ‘journey of discovery’.

Nominations for 2025 are now being invited from health boards and other employers. Each candidate must be nominated – sponsored – by their Executive Nurse Director or equivalent.

The programme is open to any community-based nurse or midwife who is directly involved in care. For 2025, the QNIS is keen to open opportunities for those who are currently underrepresented, and encourage applications from Black People and People of Colour (BPoC).

The QNIS is working to profile nursing’s role in social justice, so it would also welcome applications from those working in areas of deprivation or in roles such as homeless outreach, addictions, working with children with complex needs, sexual health, social care and criminal justice nursing.

The deadline for applications is 12 midday on Wednesday, November 6.

For further information about the Queen’s Nurse title, the development programme and for support with applications, visit https://www.qnis.org.uk/the-queens-nurse-development-programme-2025/

If you’d like to know more about the programme and the difference it has made, the QNIS will connect you with a Queen’s Nurse who has gone through the programme. To arrange this, contact catriona.mcclelland@qnis.org.uk
