Nursing Support Workers’ Day 2022

Nursing Support Workers Day 2022

Today we’re celebrating RCN Nursing Support Workers’ Day to recognise their invaluable contribution to nursing teams, patients, families and carers.

To highlight and promote their work, the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has launched a new film to showcase the variety of critical roles Nursing Support Workers play in all settings, with patients of all ages.

The organisation has thousands of nursing support worker members employed in hospitals, GP surgeries, care homes, community services and social care settings.

They can work independently, alongside registered nurses and as part of wider multidisciplinary teams and are crucial in delivering high quality care and excellent patient outcomes.

Kevin Morley, Chair of the RCN UK Nursing Support Workers Committee, said: “Please use today to celebrate the importance of our work and the breadth of roles and settings we work in.

“This is our chance to tell our story as nursing support workers so please share our stories and encourage the wider nursing team to celebrate a nursing support worker they know.”

RCN General Secretary and Chief Executive Pat Cullen added: “Today, on RCN Nursing Support Workers’ Day, I’m celebrating nursing support workers and saying thank you for the essential care they provide patients across the UK.

“Their work is invaluable and so appreciated.”

There are lots of ways to take part in today's celebrations and thank the nursing support workers you know.

Head to the RCN Nursing Support Workers’ Day website for graphics to share on social media, magazine articles and more.

You are also invited to tag the RCN in your pictures on social media and share the RCN’s film using @theRCN and #NursingSupportWorkersDay.
