New members elected to RCN Council

New members elected to RCN Council

Voting in the contested elections for seats on RCN Council has now closed and three new Council members have been elected by members in their regions.

Paul Vaughan will represent the RCN Northern region. Paul is a senior nurse with more than 35 years’ experience in the profession. For his master's degree in management, he focused his research on understanding the factors that enable nursing staff to raise concerns in their workplace.

Jeanette (Nettie) Jones will represent the RCN South West region. Nettie is an RCN steward and has been the region’s Board Chair since 2019.

Julie Green will represent the RCN West Midlands region. Julie is a registered nurse with 35 years’ experience. She is currently the Head of School at a school of nursing and midwifery in the West Midlands.

All three Council members have been elected for a term of office until 31 December 2023.

Six other Council seat vacancies were filled when members were elected unopposed to the RCN’s governing body in January.

RCN Council provides leadership and direction for the organisation. It helps ensure the RCN has a clear vision and strategic plan, acts as a guardian of the RCN’s assets and holds management to account.
