Free masterclass for community nurses interested in research
The Queen’s Nursing Institute is running a free online masterclass on quantitative data analysis for research papers for community nurses interested in research.
The masterclass is part of a series of events by the QNI’s Community Nursing Research Forum and will be led by Anthony Manning-Stanley who will introduce and discuss the main concepts related to working with numerical data in research projects.
A spokesman for the QNI said: “The masterclass will start with an exploration of some basic definitions of data types and how we treat these in order to produce various descriptive statistics, the discussion will then move on to consider the inferential statistical tests that can be conducted in order to reach conclusions related to statistical significance.
“Towards the end of the session we will consider a brief case-study to demonstrate working with quantitative data in action, with a walk through of the various stages and decisions in the data analysis process.”
Anthony Manning-Stanley previously worked as an Advanced Practice Reporting Radiographer in the NHS before moving into higher education, and now works for the University of Liverpool as Director of Studies and Lecturer for the Diagnostic Radiography degree programme.
He has an MSc in advanced practice in healthcare, and has authored or co-authored a number of papers employing quantitative data analysis methods.
He has also previously facilitated quantitative research methods workshops for AHPs in the higher education setting.
The masterclass will take place from 1pm to 2.15pm on Wednesday, June 14.
