Diabetes specialist nurse given Queen’s Nurse title

A clinical lead diabetes specialist nurse from Wiltshire Health and Care has gained a prestigious title from the Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI).

Beth Kelly, who is also the director of the DSN Forum UK, has been awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse after demonstrating a high level of commitment to patient care and nursing practice in the community for 16 years.

The Queen’s Nurse programme brings together community nurses to develop their professional skills and deliver outstanding patient care in the community.

Beth said: “I’m really honoured to be awarded the title of Queens Nurse. After working in the community for all of my career so far, I have watched inspirational colleagues get this title and I have always hoped to be able to work towards it for myself.”

The title and badge will be presented to Beth at an official ceremony in London on Friday, November 29.

She said: “I am very excited to head to London for the ceremony and meet all the other Queen’s Nurses from the previous years.

“I cannot wait to learn from them and gain another network which can open doors for improving clinical care for people who live with diabetes.”

She added: “I hope to be able to use this title to highlight the huge importance of specialist diabetes nurses in the community and the vital work that we do.”
